Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq: US stock exchanges lose after Fed decision

Frankfurt Investors on Wall Street found no clear direction: After the announcement of another XXL rate hike by the US Federal Reserve of 75 basis points, the markets initially went downhill. Shortly after the announcement at around 2:30 p.m. local time in Washington, the leading indices slipped slightly by up to one percent into the red. In the meantime, they have recovered significantly.

At the end of trading, all three indices closed deep in the red. The Dow Jones slipped 1.7 percent into the red and ended the trading day at a counter reading of 30,184. The broader S&P 500 closed 1.71 percent lower at 3,790 points and the tech-heavy Nasdaq fell 1.81 percent to 11,638 points.
