Produced by Steven Spielberg, the documentary Music By John Williams, which chronicles the life and career of legendary composer of the Jaws and Star Wars series John Williams, will finally meet its audience on Disney+ in November after a limited release.
The documentary Music By John Williams will also be the opening film of AFI Fest 2024, which will be held at the TCL Chinese Theatre from October 23-27. The film will arrive on Disney+ the following week on November 1. The film will also be produced by Ron Howard, the president of Imagine Entertainment, who also directed the documentary Jim Henson: Idea Man, which is also streaming on Disney+.

John Williams has had an illustrious career and has been nominated for 52 Academy Awards, winning a total of five awards for Fiddler on the Roof, Jaws, Star Wars, ET and Schindler’s List.
In addition, John Williams has also produced magnificent compositions for other legendary works of the cinema world, such as Superman, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park and many other films.
“John Williams is an American icon with a true and enduring global impact,” said AFI President and CEO Bob Gazzale. “We were thrilled to have the opportunity to host the film’s world premiere. But it wouldn’t have been the same without the music of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.”
The documentary Music By John Williams, which will be released on Disney+ on November 1, features interviews with successful names from the worlds of cinema and music, including Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, Kate Capshaw, Gustavo Dudamel, JJ Abrams, Chris Martin, Ron Howard, Chris Columbus, George Lucas, Itzhak Perlman, Lawrence Kasdan, Yo-Yo Ma, Ke, Huy Quan, James Mangold, Alan Silvestri, David Newman, Thomas Newman, Seth MacFarlane, Anne-Sophie Mutter and Branford Marsalis.
