“Diablo Immortal”: The most important tips for beginners | life & knowledge

Finally the time has come. The mega-successful “Diablo” series is getting a sequel. And with “Diablo Immortal” the action game is finally coming to mobile phones. From June 2 at 7 p.m., fans can get started on their PCs and smartphones. BILD has already been able to try out the long-awaited game and is providing tips for anyone who wants to get started now.

To play through the story of “Diablo Immortal” between twelve and 15 hours are necessary. But then it really starts. By completing the story and other challenges over and over again, the players hunt for better and better equipment and more and more abilities for their characters. Resourceful fans have calculated that it takes more than 40 years to find a specific set of legendary gear.

It doesn’t start right away!

Important: Installing the app from the store is just the beginning. Immortal still needs gigabytes of data before you can get started. On an Android smartphone, the game needs a total of almost twelve gigabytes.

You also need a Battlenet account, which you must create before you can engage in battle against evil. So plan enough time and (for the downloads) an available WLAN network.

“Diablo Immortal” is not stingy with data. At least you can start playing while the download is in progress

The right hero

Right at the start you have to make an important decision: What should your fighter against evil look like? “Diablo Immortal” offers six different character classes with the barbarian, the crusader, the monk, the demon hunter, the magician and the necromancer. The first three are melee fighters, attacking monsters with swords and axes, the other three use crossbows, spells or an army of undead to defeat evil.

But melee or ranged combat isn’t the only difference between the classes. Experience has shown that developer Blizzard changes the strength of the classes over time, currently crusaders and demon summoners seem to be the easiest choice for beginners. After that come barbarian, necromancer and monk. Surprisingly, while the magician was always quite strong in the previous “Diablo” titles, the one in “Immortal” has so far been the weakest class.

upgrade equipment

At the blacksmith (of which there are several in the game) you can improve your character’s equipment. “Diablo Immortal” makes it easy for the players: Upgrades are automatically transferred to the piece of equipment that you are currently putting on your character. So you can put all available resources into improving equipment right from the start, not having to save in order to be able to upgrade better weapons or armor later.

At the same time, you should exchange items that you no longer want to use for raw materials at the blacksmith. This gives you space to pick up new finds along the way, and you don’t have to juggle free equipment slots along the way.

The Right Skills

Diablo Immortal also makes it very easy for the players when it comes to skills. Skills improve automatically as the character levels up. All you have to do is decide which skills you want to actively use and place them on one of the four control buttons on the bottom right.

At the bottom right is the attack and ability controls. The main attack is on the big button, four special abilities are grouped around it. Above that is the red healing potion, whose charges are slowly and automatically refilled

Important, however: You should try out new skills. In general, the later you get an ability, the more powerful it is. So, initially, you should switch to the new skills as soon as possible. Only later in the game is it sometimes worth going back to “older” skills.

In combat, it is helpful to use the character’s abilities. Because the standard attack is usually much weaker than the special abilities. Also exciting: Individual skills can be combined with each other, causing even more damage to the opponents.

To pay or not to pay?

Probably the most important question: does Diablo Immortal cost money? The simple answer is no. However, the game offers three currencies, of which you can only earn one and a half (gold and platinum) in the game itself. Eternal Orbs, the third currency, are only available in the shop for real money. The Emblems, which provide higher value rewards during the game, must also be purchased for real money.

Diablo keeps asking players to spend money on in-game currency. If you don't want that, you just need more patience to get the top equipment

So far it is difficult to judge whether and how much money you have to invest in order to play at the top of “Immortal”. But one thing is already clear: you can have a lot of fun with the game without investing a single cent.
