The head of the CDU is less popular than government politicians, but is growing in popularity overall.

Berlin If there were a federal election on Sunday, according to a survey, the Union would be by far the strongest force. The CDU and CSU improved by two points on the previous month to 30 percent, according to a survey by infratest dimap for the ARD “Deutschlandtrend” published on Thursday.
According to the survey, the traffic light parties lost votes compared to November. The SPD came to 18 percent (-1) and was thus on a par with the Greens (-1). The FDP also lost a point and came to five percent.
According to the survey, the left was five percent (+/-0). Of the parties represented in the Bundestag, only the AfD recorded an increase of 15 percent (+1). All other parties accounted for nine percent.
According to the survey, the reputation of the federal government has improved slightly for the first time since July, but remains at a low level. 30 percent of those eligible to vote were satisfied or very satisfied (+2) with the work of the SPD, Greens and FDP, 68 percent were less or not at all satisfied (-1).

17 percent of those surveyed thought that a CDU/CSU-led federal government could better solve the upcoming tasks and problems in Germany. 24 percent stated that a union-led government would solve the tasks and problems worse. 52 percent stated that a CDU/CSU-led federal government would do this equally well or badly.
Survey: Annalena Baerbock remains the most popular politician
When it came to assessing the government’s top staff, Annalena Baerbock (Greens) was further ahead in the survey compared to November: 48 percent (+2) stated that they were satisfied or very satisfied with the work of the foreign minister. Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) had 41 percent (+3).
36 percent (+3) were satisfied with the work of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD). For Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) it was 33 percent (+4). 32 percent were satisfied with the work of the Union faction leader Friedrich Merz (CDU) in the opposition (+2).
