Peacemaker Conquers DC's New Releases Next Week | CBR

Next week’s DC Comics releases are giving peace a chance with an all-new Peacemaker one-shot.

Christopher Smith aka Peacemaker is rising in popularity, thanks to actor-wrestler John Cena’s portrayal in both James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (2021) and the current Peacemaker series on HBO Max. Out on Tuesday is Peacemaker: Disturbing the Peace #1, which will explore the character’s violent past and history before joining the Suicide Squad. Whether the story is set within the vast Omniverse of DC Comics or the live-action DC Extended Universe remains to be seen, but the one-shot will be helmed by writer Garth Ennis (The Boys) and Garry Brown (Babyteeth). There is a lot more coming from DC in the near future though.

Speaking of one-shots, the Super Sons are back! The fan-favorite pairing (which is set to be adapted for animation) between Jon Kent and Damian Wayne returns for Superman & Robin Special #1, which will see an evolved dynamic being that Jon is now the world’s Superman and Damian has been participating in a Mortal Kombat-style death tournament. Though Damian has appeared in the ongoing Superman: Son of Kal-El series written by Tom Taylor, Jon has yet to be featured in Robin by Joshua Williamson. Despite this, Super Sons creative Peter J. Tomasi will have the two team up again, penning the one-shot alongside Viktor Bogdanovic on art.

Of course, there is much more than one-shots next week, with ongoing series like Action ComicsThe FlashJustice League and more releasing new issues. Of special note is the debut of the Batman/Catwoman Special #1, as well as the celebration of a Detective Comics anniversary with the title’s 1050th issue. All issues releasing can be found below in alphabetical order, covers and solicitations included.
