Dusseldorf It is not just any promotional product: For the first time, Aldi Nord is presenting its own fashion collection in stores. The T-shirts, trousers and slippers with the discounter’s distinctive lettering are sold in pop-up stores in large tents in selected cities.
But the chaos in the international supply chains, which is causing more and more retailers problems and creating gaps on the shelves, has now also thwarted Aldi Nord’s planning. Because the goods do not arrive on time, the discounter has to postpone the previously announced sales dates in two cities by several weeks.
“Short-term temporal postponements or partial failures in the range of our articles can unfortunately not be ruled out at the moment,” an Aldi spokeswoman told the Handelsblatt when asked. “Therefore the sales dates in Essen and Hanover have been postponed.” The dates in Hamburg, Berlin and Leipzig could take place as planned.
