In recent years, Turkey has made a name for itself in the domestic and foreign press with the military products it has exported to Asian, African and Eastern European countries. Especially since drones have proven themselves in many different countries and scenarios, they are known as Game Changer in the international community.

Of course, not only aircraft such as UAV-SİHA, but also companies such as FNSS and BMC, especially Aselsan, Havelsan and Roketsan, offer hundreds and even thousands of domestic production products such as ballistic missiles, air defense systems, various ammunition, war management systems, ships and armored vehicles. exports the software abroad.

Accordingly, defense industry exports grew by 42 percent last year, reaching a new record of $3.2 billion. This year, it is expected to exceed the level of 4 billion dollars. But it has already managed to surpass the previous year.

In fact, not only the annual record, but also the monthly record was broken. In November, there was an increase of 31.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and the export threshold of 500 million dollars was exceeded. When we compare the first 11 months to the same period of the previous year, we see a growth of 35.7 percent.

Of course, among all these companies, it is necessary to open a parenthesis for Baykar. Haluk Bayraktar, in his post today, said that the company sold UAV, SİHA and TİHA systems to 18 different countries in 2022 and that it reached an export income of more than 1 billion dollars.

This accounts for 98 percent of the company’s contracts signed in 2022. It also corresponds to 25 percent of Turkey’s export data, which is expected to exceed 4 billion dollars. Of course, the revenues in question will continue to increase in the coming years.

Although we see great developments in issues such as the records broken every year and worldwide recognition, let us state that the current situation is not enough for NATO’s 2nd largest army like Turkey. However, since both the export and localization rates are much higher than other countries, the gap is gradually closing.
