Dax is treading water – BASF and Covestro benefit from the gas price brake and are growing strongly

Dusseldorf The German stock market was unable to defend its interim gains on Monday. The leading index Dax closed in the evening almost unchanged at 12,272 points.

After the significant losses on Friday, some investors took the opportunity to re-enter the market. For example, expert Andreas Lipkow saw the German stock market “in the heavily oversold area”. At its peak, the Dax rose to 12,411 points on Monday, but was unable to maintain this level.

Among the biggest winners are the chemical companies BASF and Covestro, whose shares rose by more than six and eight percent respectively. Both companies would benefit from the gas price brake proposed by the Gas Expert Commission.
