Dax hardly changed after negative ZEW figures

Dusseldorf The German leading index Dax remains without a clear course on Tuesday afternoon. In the early afternoon, the Dax was unchanged at 15,926 points.

Concerns about a debt crisis in the USA are putting pressure on the Frankfurt stock exchange barometer, while strong numbers from the Dax companies have recently given a boost. The opposing impulses balance out the price dynamics: the Dax remains in its sideways movement.

A breakout to the upside doesn’t seem likely anytime soon. The negative news prevails on the stock exchanges: The future of the ailing US regional banking sector is still uncertain. The riddle surrounding the future interest rate of the European Central Bank (ECB) has still not been solved.

In addition, the needles of the most important indicators of the German economy are pointing to red: The ZEW Index of the Mannheim Center for European Economic Research has fallen below the zero line for the first time since December 2022 and is at minus 10.7 points (April: plus 4.1 points ). The key figure bundles the expectations of financial market experts regarding economic development.
