Dax falls below 12,000 points due to high inflation

Frankfurt Investors reacted in shock to the high inflation in September and let the Dax fall below the 12,000 mark again. In the early Thursday afternoon, the leading German index was down around 1.5 percent at around 11,995 points. The MDax is also around 1.5 percent lower at 21,974 points, the leading eurozone index EuroStoxx 50 is around 1.4 percent down.

According to an initial estimate by the Federal Statistical Office, inflation in Germany has risen to almost ten percent. Economists had expected a smaller increase to around 9.4 percent.

The Dax started weak in the morning. The leading index moved in a psychological balancing act of celebration at Porsche and skepticism about the inflation figures. After falling below the important 12,000 mark in the morning, the stock market barometer was slightly above the level again at noon.
