Dusseldorf, Frankfurt In the new world of work, Deutsche Bank needs less space. At the Frankfurt headquarters, the bank wants to reduce its office space by 40 percent by the end of 2024 compared to 2021. Two of the five locations will be abandoned. There are similar projects in other cities. Deutsche Bank said it wanted to “concentrate on fewer buildings, but equip them with a higher standard”.

More and more corporations are reducing office space as a result of the increase in working from home and are using this as a savings program. This is shown by a Handelsblatt survey of the 40 Dax companies and ten large family businesses. According to a new Allensbach study, 27 percent of companies have reduced their offices, 22 percent are planning to do so. 40 percent do not want that; most of them are companies with fewer than 1,000 employees.

The pandemic has permanently changed office jobs. Almost three years ago, many employees had to switch to the home office overnight. In the meantime, this has become an integral part of the working world.
