Berlin After a forced break due to the pandemic, more than 2000 executives from business, politics and society will meet again next weekend for the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

For WEF President Börge Brende, the meeting, which will take place this spring, comes at a delicate time: the global economy is threatening to plunge into stagflation, geopolitical tensions are at their highest level in decades, and the pandemic is still not over.

“We’re doing worse than last year, but better than next year,” predicted the Norwegian pessimistically in an interview with the Handelsblatt, but with gallows humor.
