Chinese mediator spoke to Ukrainian President
Chinese Special Envoy Li Hui has spoken to President Volodymyr Zelensky and senior government officials in Ukraine. Apparently, there hasn’t been much progress, as Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin made clear on Thursday. “There is no means to solve the crisis,” Wang said. “All parties should create favorable conditions and build mutual trust for a political solution.”
Li used to be ambassador to Moscow. Ukraine’s foreign ministry said he spent two days talking to the head of the ministry, Dmytro Kuleba, about ways to “stop Russian aggression.” Kuleba made it clear that Ukraine would not accept any proposal involving the loss of territories or a freeze on the conflict.
