Frankfurt In Germany, fewer apartments were bought and sold last year than a year before – but at a higher average price. That is the result of a current report that the real estate company Accentro prepares every year together with the Institut der Deutschen Wirtschaft (IW). The official data from the expert committees on condominium transactions in all major German cities is evaluated.

According to this, 123,299 apartments were sold in the 81 cities examined last year, 4.4 percent less than in 2019. Nevertheless, sales rose by 3.3 percent to 36.027 billion euros, which indicates further increases in prices – the market was particularly good for property owners. “For owners, 2020 was marked by rising rents and sales prices,” concludes Lars Schriewer, CEO of Accentro Real Estate.
