Berlin The traffic light negotiators listed many projects on 177 pages of the coalition agreement. Alone: ​​There is not enough change for all the plans. Since the SPD, Greens and FDP want to hold on to the debt brake, the designated finance minister Christian Lindner (FDP) should use a number of tricks to get additional money.

“In view of the urgently needed investments in climate protection and digitization, it is right to use every opportunity to fully exploit the framework of the current debt brake,” says the green Baden-Württemberg finance minister Danyal Bayaz, who helped negotiate the coalition agreement.

According to calculations by the Agora Energiewende think tank and the economist Tom Krebs, which are available to the Handelsblatt, the traffic light plans could actually create considerable leeway. In total, the researchers come to around 45 billion euros per year, which the traffic light coalition could also spend.
