Berlin When Economics Minister Robert Habeck is in Norway on Thursday and Friday, he is visiting a country that has become one of Germany’s most important partners in the energy crisis.

Norway is the most important supplier of natural gas after Russian gas supplies ceased – and this is likely to remain the case for a long time. In addition, Norway is to play an important role as a supplier of climate-neutral hydrogen in the future.

The third important component of German-Norwegian cooperation on energy and climate policy issues is the capture and storage of carbon dioxide (Carbon Capture and Storage, or CCS for short). A future technology that will be indispensable for CO2-intensive industries such as the steel or cement industry. So far, CCS has been the only way for them to become climate neutral.
