Beijing A visit to the exclusive Taikooli promenade in Beijing shows just how competitive the world’s largest e-car market is. In the evening, the luxury cars of the rich and famous pile up on the access roads. They carry exotic brand names such as Arcfox, Avatr, Li Auto, Nio or Xiaopeng. However, electric models from German car manufacturers are rarely seen.

The competition is likely to intensify in the coming years. Tech companies like Baidu are entering the market with intelligent e-vehicles. His first smart car, named Robo-01, is scheduled to go into series production in March. The smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi also recently received the long-awaited production license.
