Chery wants to mitigate the effects of new customs duties imposed by the European Union. In this context, it announced that it plans to start producing electric cars in the factory it purchased in Spain by the end of the year. Cars produced in this factory can also be exported to our country.
The EU has started to impose various customs duties on electric vehicles imported from China as part of a plan aimed at reducing carbon emissions. This will significantly increase the prices of electric vehicles exported by Chinese brands to the European market.

Additional taxes will be applied to imported Chinese cars. According to the Official Gazette decision, a price increase is on the way for Chinese electric, internal combustion and hybrid cars.
Chery Vice President Zhang Jian announced plans to start production in Spain later this year. The factory, which will start production in Barcelona, will be Chery’s first facility in Europe. However, Zhang stated that the current facility is not large enough for the company’s medium and long-term goals in the region.

For those who don’t know, last week, with the decision of the President, certain automobiles of Chinese origin were banned. additional customs duty (IGV) was brought.
