Cardano (ADA) Founder Talks About Basil the Great Update: “There’s No Turning Back Anymore!”

Cardano (ADA) Charles Hoskinson, CEO of developer company Input Output, announced that a hard fork combinator request has been submitted and successfully accepted, meaning that the Vasil hard fork process has now entered its final phase.

The hard fork is scheduled to go live on September 22, after months of waiting.

Hoskinson announced that some of the improvements that came with the Vasil hard fork will go into effect on September 27 for various technical reasons.

Hoskinson urged the community to upgrade to Daedalus 5.0.0, the latest version of the ADA wallet, which includes some important fixes.

The Vasil hard fork is ADA’s most ambitious upgrade to date as it will significantly improve the scalability of Blockchain. For example, Plutus V2 scripts will be able to significantly enhance Cardano’s smart contract capabilities.

Hoskinson claims the upgrade was “particularly important” because it was named after his “good friend” Vasil Dabov. The Bulgarian mathematician, an active member of the ADA community, passed away last December. “I am happy to be able to immortalize his legacy in the Cardano ecosystem forever,” Hoskinson said.
