Munich Germany’s largest car rental company says goodbye to petrol and diesel. CEO Alexander Sixt told the Handelsblatt: “By the end of the decade we want to have converted 70 to 90 percent of our fleet in Europe to electrified vehicles.”

The car rental company wants to “enthuse its customers about electric cars across the board” and advertise the electric vehicles prominently in the future. The company is also investing 50 million euros in expanding its own charging network.

Sixt wants its rental stations in particular equipped with fast chargers in airports and inner cities. “Today, the cars come back with a full tank, in the future we currently assume that we will take over the charging for the customer.”
