Düsseldorf, Frankfurt The drastic rise in gas prices has brought another provider to its knees. The Brandenburg company Otima Energie announced on its website on Wednesday that it had filed for bankruptcy and stopped supplying electricity and gas.

The reason for this is in particular the massive rise in wholesale prices, which have quadrupled within a very short time. Prepayment and security deposits have shot up. “After the end of the supply, we will prepare the final invoices as soon as possible and ask you to send us the respective meter readings in this context,” said Otima. How many customers this affects was initially open.

The gas prices have climbed to record levels in the past few months and thus mixed up the utilities’ calculations. In September, Deutsche Energiepool announced that it had terminated gas supply contracts for many customers. Larger providers are also under pressure to act.
