Billy Eichner shoots “Bros” – Hollywood’s first film – only with LGBTQ actors

This has never happened before!

The American actor, comedian and film producer Billy Eichner (43, “Parks and Recreation”) is already making headlines with his film “Bros”, which will be released in August 2022.

Because: For the first time ever, a Hollywood film will be produced that will exclusively feature LGBTQ actors. Means: Even the heterosexual characters are played by queer actors.

LGBTQ is the English abbreviation for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer.

This is what it’s all about

Universal Pictures describes “Bros” as a “smart, delightful, heartfelt comedy” about two gay men “who may, possibly, likely stumble into love.” Or simply: A romantic comedy about two men trying to get into a relationship with each other.

The pair is played by Eichner himself and Luke Macfarlane (41), who most of you probably still know from the successful series “Brothers & Sisters”.

Eichner also wrote the script together with Nicholas Stoller (45). The two know each other well and have already worked together on the Netflix production “Friends from College”. Of course, “Bros” is also produced by him – together with Stoller, Judd Apatow and Joshua Church.

“This is the best there has ever been! I couldn’t be more proud and excited to tell you that the ENTIRE main cast for my romcom ‘Bros’ will consist of openly LGBTQ + actors, “the 43-year-old wrote on Twitter in response to a message from The Hollywood Reporter. And further: “Yes, even in all straight roles! This is a first for film from a major studio. Let’s make history !!! “

In an official statement, Eichner continued: “After decades of queer actors watching straight actors capitalize on the role of LGBTQ + characters both artistically and professionally, it is a long overdue dream that has come true, this remarkable one to put together a hilarious cast. “

The aim is to clearly show that queer actors and actresses can do more than what they are mostly used for in Hollywood, said Eichner.

“And while ‘Bros’ may be the first of its kind in many ways, I really hope it’s just the first of many opportunities for open LGBTQ + ensembles to shine and show the world what we are capable of as actors. beyond just being the crazy sidekick, the alibi fagot or the ‘gay best friend’ of a straight movie star. And what’s more, this cast is damn funny and you will love them, ”says the openly gay film producer.

In other leading roles: transgender entertainer and LGBT activist Ts Madison (43) and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” winner of season 13, drag queen Symone (26), the gender-fluid actor Miss Lawrence (38), “Weeds” – Actor Guillermo Díaz (46) and comedian, author and actor Guy Branum (45).

The theatrical release of “Bros” is planned for August 12, 2022.
