Biggest Update Coming After Merge: When and What Will Cardano’s Vasil Update Bring?

Ethereum As the expectations for Merge come to an end, all eyes are on before Vasil’s hard fork. Cardano (ADA) is on.

ADA is scheduled to begin the Vasil hard fork on September 22, which improves the functionality, performance, and scalability of the network.

What Does the Vasil Update Mean for Cardano?

Cardano is currently in the Basho era according to the ADA roadmap. The Basho era is the era of optimization to improve the scalability and interoperability of the network. The Vasil hard fork will bring functionality, performance and scalability to the Cardano network.

A joint IOG/Cardano Foundation team will implement the Vasil hard fork on September 22 using Hard Fork Combinator (HFC) technology. With the update, ADA’s Proof of Stake Blockchain will be further developed.

Vasil hard fork brings many features and capabilities such as:

  • Plutus v2 scripts – Enhances Cardano’s smart contracts platform, resulting in higher transaction performance and higher cost efficiency.
  • Diffusion pipelining – provides faster block propagation and increases network capacity.
  • Script collateral setting – improves two-step transaction verification by specifying a change address to protect funds during failure.
  • Reference entries – Allows on-chain data sharing without wasting and rebuilding UTXOs.
  • Inline data – eliminates the use of hashes by allowing developers to create scripts and add transaction data directly to output.
  • Reference script – reduces transaction size, increases throughput and lowers script execution costs.
  • Data and saviors – allows developers to see recoveries for all entries.
  • Data Serialization principle – reduces overall memory and CPU costs.
