Strong Reaction to Cryptocurrency Ban in Russia
Opposition forces and names in Russia have officially lashed out against cryptocurrency mining. On January 20 and January 22 Leonid Volkov and Pavel Durov’s posts on Telegram contain the reactions of two famous names.
In addition to being the founding partner of Telegram, Durov is also one of the important names in the technology industry. Volkov, on the other hand, is known as the right-hand man of Russia’s opposition force, Aleksei Navalny. Navalny is still in prison in Russia.
Durov said in a statement on the subject that this ban by the central bank will delay the development of blockchain technology. According to Durov, a complete ban on cryptocurrencies will be seen as punishing the whole of Russia rather than stopping bad actors. Legitimate crypto money projects, especially those originating in Russia, can be buried in history with this ban.
Volkov stated that banning cryptocurrencies is actually impossible and that it is childish. The Central Bank of Russia, on the other hand, still insists on a complete ban on cryptocurrencies and is quite repressive.
