17.8 million TL fine from the Ministry of Commerce to automobile dealers!

The Ministry of Commerce identified a car dealership in Ankara that demanded a price above the list price of the vehicles, and dealers in Adana and Bursa that were trying to forcefully sell accessory packages to customers. A total of 17 million 834 thousand 400 TL administrative fine was imposed on 3 automobile dealers.

The Ministry of Commerce announced the criminal proceedings in an official written statement. In the statement made by the Ministry, it was reminded that the product storage process called “stocking” is prohibited with the Retail Trade Regulation Law No. 6585. The compliance of businesses with this ban is closely monitored by our ministry and administrative fines continue to be imposed on businesses that violate this situation. In addition, with the amendment made on the Regulation on the Trade of Second-Hand Motor Vehicles on May 6, 2023, automobile authorized dealers engaged in the trade of first registered motor land vehicles refrain from selling the vehicle, demanding a price above the list price of the vehicle, forcing the customer to buy accessories or barter, or to barter. It is regulated that the second-hand motor land vehicle trade authorization certificates of these enterprises will be revoked if the consumer is engaged in activities that make it difficult for the consumer to reach the first registered motor land vehicle, such as determining the price significantly below the market price.
