Munich Because of the out of control corona pandemic, Bavaria is drastically tightening its measures. “We have to act,” said Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) on Friday afternoon.

All clubs, discos and bars should close for the next three weeks, there should be no Christmas markets this year, as Söder announced after consultations with his coalition in Munich. Schools and daycare centers should remain open.

Cultural and sporting events are only allowed to take place on a much smaller scale: with a maximum capacity of 25 percent of spectators. In addition, the 2G-plus rule applies there – access also for vaccinated and convalescent people only with a test. In addition, all Christmas markets in Bavaria would be canceled, announced Söder. Several cities had already canceled their Christmas markets in the past few days.

In corona hotspots with a seven-day incidence of more than 1000, the measures will be even stricter: public life is to be shut down in large areas there. Gastronomy, sports and cultural facilities have to close, events are prohibited, as Söder announced. Schools and daycare centers should also remain open there.

Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) once again appealed to people in the Free State to get vaccinated and voluntarily reduce their contacts. The health system is threatened with collapse.

The Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder is now calling for a general vaccination requirement. “I believe that in the end we will not be able to avoid a general compulsory vaccination,” said the CSU boss on Friday in Munich: “Otherwise we will end up in an endless loop with this crap corona.”

Söder for 2G among football professionals

Although the corona rules in Bavaria will be tightened from next Tuesday, “this is not a long-term solution”, said Söder and expressed doubts as to whether a partial vaccination requirement for individual professional groups is really sufficient and “may be the only solution for next year”.

Söder also spoke out in favor of 2G among football professionals and called on players who were still unvaccinated to be vaccinated. “That would be a huge signal that there is an identity between fans and players. Because the fans in the stadium have to take on a lot and the football players are there for the fans. “

Those responsible in the umbrella organizations and clubs would try very hard, said the Prime Minister. “Any player who does not agree to take this path there at the end of the day will not do his club a big favor and the big sport as well.” Söder described 2G as “sensible” for professional football, even if it is legally difficult to enforce. “It is a life-threatening undertaking not to vaccinate”, emphasized the Prime Minister.
