The Bank of England announced today that it will start working with a group of key companies to issue a CBDC (central bank digital currency). The list published by the bank includes very important companies such as PayPal, ConsenSys, Visa and Mastercard.
The Bank of England, which continues its work on the central bank digital currency (CBDC), made a new statement today. According to the statement, it was announced that two different working groups consisting of third parties were established.
The list published by the Bank of England included prominent names in the crypto money world, as well as the leading names of the banking and payment industry. Companies currently in the working group are PayPal, Monzo, Starling, Checkout.com, ConsenSys, R3, Visa and Mastercard.
The UK Central Bank, which divides companies into two as “participation” and “technology” forums, stated that the purpose of the Participation Forum is to make political assessments about CBDCs and to determine their strategic needs. The Technology Forum, on the other hand, was reported to identify the technical challenges of creating a CBDC and the technological challenges of design and operation.
It is not known on which axis or which country the Bank of England currently carries out CBDC studies.
