ASPİLSAN starts the production of cylindrical Lithium Ion batteries!

Turkey continues to make significant investments in high technology, even if the economic conditions are bad. Accordingly, ASPİLSAN established Europe’s first Cylindrical Lithium Ion battery facility. According to the latest statement, the last step has been taken and production activities are now ready to start.

ASPİLSAN has completed its new cylindrical Lithium Ion battery facility

ASPİLSAN is among the companies with the highest localization rate. 98 percent of its shares are held by the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation. For this reason, for years, it has been producing batteries and batteries specific to the devices used in land, air and sea according to the needs of the TAF.

However, it now aims to be in an important position not only for our country, but also for the whole world. Established with an investment of 1.5 billion TL in this direction, Europe’s first cylindrical Lithium Ion battery facility is also among the largest in the world.

ASPİLSAN announced that the machinery, equipment and auxiliary systems of its lithium-ion cylindrical battery production facility have recently arrived in the country.

The new generation battery packs and cylindrical batteries to be produced here will be exported to be used in technological devices all over the world. Of course, at this point, let us state that ASPİLSAN is not alone in our country.

Togg, which will launch its electric cars in the first quarter of next year, has previously reached an agreement with the Chinese company Farasis on battery production. It was said that Siro, which was established as a result of this, will produce 15 gigawatt-hour battery cells and modules.

In fact, the Chinese company Farasis, which is Togg’s partner in battery production, will produce its new generation batteries, which can travel 250 km with an 8-minute charge (80%+ filling) and offer 1.5 million km of life, at Siro’s Gemlik facilities.

For this reason, in the next few years, it is expected that our country will become a center for battery production for the whole world, especially for Europe. Due to domestic advanced solutions, partnerships and technology transfers, it will be able to directly launch state-of-the-art products.

Of course, ASPİLSAN’s stance is slightly different at this point. Because the company will produce with its own patents and licenses. In other words, it will reveal a completely domestic product. In this new facility with an annual production capacity of 220 MWh, 60 cells per minute will be produced. This corresponds to 21 million 600 thousand cells annually. The capacity of the produced batteries will be 2800 mAh and the voltage will be 3.65V.
