Asia’s richest man is under pressure

Bangkok Asia’s richest man has two stories to tell about how he narrowly escaped death. The first time, a quarter of a century ago, kidnappers would have kidnapped him at gunpoint to extort millions. The second time, in 2008, he hid for a night in a room in the luxury Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai while assassins carried out an attack there that killed dozens.

Now the Indian multi-billionaire, who was considered wealthier than Amazon founder Jeff Bezos just a few days ago, has once again been targeted.

This time, however, the threat to the 60-year-old entrepreneur does not come from criminals or terrorists – but from financial activists. They raise serious allegations against Adani. They do not believe in the story of the school dropout who worked hard to build one of the largest fortunes in the world – but sense an unprecedented fraud.
