Apple attracted attention with its new Apple Watch app Vitals, which was introduced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) held last June. The Vitals app, which will come with watchOS 11, is designed to monitor your health and analyze this data. However, the company stated that you should wear your Watch while sleeping to fully benefit from this app.
24/7 health tracking with Apple Watch Vitals
Apple’s new Vitals app aims to track users’ health data throughout the night, creating a more comprehensive health profile. In an interview with CNET, Dr. Sumbul Desai, Apple’s VP of Health, emphasized that it’s important to wear Apple Watch while sleeping so that the Vitals app can analyze users’ heart rate, body temperature, and other health metrics without any variations from exercise and daily activities.

Dr.Desai, “So much of your health is invisible. This daily health status is like a little health snapshot taken at night.” “Instead of giving users a health score, Vitals shows how their current health metrics compare to normal levels. When two or more metrics are out of whack, it gives the user information on how to fix the situation.”
While the Apple Watch has improved its sleep tracking capabilities over the past few years, the Vitals app could help take those features even further. However, for many users, the weight and bulk of the Apple Watch may make it less appealing to wear while sleeping. While there are lighter, more discreet alternatives like the Oura ring or the new Samsung Galaxy Ring, the additional health data offered by the Vitals app could make the challenge worthwhile.
The Vitals app is an important tool designed to help users track their health more comprehensively. However, to fully utilize its potential, users are required to wear their Apple Watch while sleeping. This may require some changes to their daily charging routine.
Apple developed the Vitals app to make users’ health data more meaningful and actionable. “We’re not saying you need to go to the doctor,” Dr. Desai said. “When we send you a notification, we want it to be meaningful and actionable.”
