Istanbul The strongest daily loss of the Turkish lira in over three years has not boosted the country’s economy, but has stalled. The iPhone manufacturer Apple has apparently stopped selling its smartphones temporarily.
The information “Currently not available” has appeared on the company’s Turkish website for models 11, 12 and 13 since Tuesday evening (local time). Previously, the sales value of the devices in Turkey had fallen by almost 300 US dollars within a few days.
The lira, which fell more than 15 percent on Tuesday, was 8.2 percent lower at 12.41 per dollar at 5:30 p.m. local time. The emerging market currency’s eleven-day streak is the longest in 20 years. In November alone it lost almost a third of its value.
