Apple, Microsoft & Alphabet ahead of Europe

Dusseldorf American technology companies in particular benefited from the stock market boom of 2021. Apple, Microsoft and Alphabet – the three largest companies in the world – have increased their market value by 2.2 trillion euros in the past twelve months. For comparison: All 40 Dax companies are worth 1.86 trillion euros.

With the equivalent of 6.4 trillion euros, the three US tech groups are 60 percent more valuable than the 50 largest companies in the euro zone. This was the result of an exclusive Handelsblatt analysis of the 100 most valuable companies in the world by market value.

According to experts, the US dominance is likely to increase. “Despite higher ratings, we are more positive for the US than for Europe,” says investment strategist Peter Spijkman of Aegon Asset Management: “In the long term, technology companies are likely to grow faster than the more traditional sectors.”
