An island struggles to deal with China

Taipei Joshua Tai is learning war at church today. Bandages lie in front of him in the seminar room in the basement of the Jinan Church in the Taiwanese capital of Taipei. The lawyer has just heard how triage works, i.e. the treatment of injured persons according to their severity. In a moment he’ll be practicing dressing up gaping, bleeding wounds.

Previously, he learned how best to respond to disinformation campaigns by the potential attacker. Tai makes no secret of the enemy. “I’m afraid that one day China will attack us,” he says. “That’s why I came here to hear how I can protect myself, my family and those around me in the event of war.”
