Nobody knows how long this conflict will last. But we are approaching a situation where we need alternatives for war-affected products. For example for fertilizers – a lot of it comes from Russia. In Europe, there have traditionally been major concerns about genetically modified seeds, or GMOs. Geopolitical tensions could change that. In this way, genetically modified plants could be promoted that require less fertilizer or take CO2 out of the air. Alternative drives could also become more important.
