New Zen 5 processor AMD Ryzen 9 9950X features
Ryzen 9 9950X has 16 cores and 32 threads. This processor, which can reach a boost clock speed of 5.7GHz, is equipped with 80MB L2 + L3 cache. AMD states that this new processor provides approximately 16% more instruction cycle (IPC) performance increase compared to previous generation Ryzen processors. This promises huge gains in both productivity and gaming performance. Particularly in Blender, it is claimed to provide up to a 56 percent performance increase compared to Intel’s Core i9-14900K processor and a 21 percent increase in Cinebench 2024.
The Zen 5 architecture continues to use the AM5 socket and offers PCIe Gen 5 and DDR5 support. However, there are some important updates under this new architecture. Donny Woligroski, AMD’s technical marketing manager, states that Zen 5 offers much more advanced branch predictions, resulting in major improvements in both accuracy and latency. This new architecture delivers twice the instruction and data bandwidth of previous generations, as well as twice the AI performance.
