AMD Ryzen owners running Windows 11 are experiencing performance losses in many games. New research looking at Zen 4 and Zen 5 processors has shown performance drops of up to 10 percent due to a bug in Windows 11.
AMD processors with Zen 4 and Zen 5 experience performance loss in Windows 11
Benchmarks conducted by various YouTube channels have revealed that a new bug discovered in Windows 11 is slowing down the gaming performance of AMD Ryzen models. It has been reported that AMD owners are experiencing performance drops of up to 10 percent.
The issue in Windows 11 affects AMD Zen 4 and next-generation Zen 5 architectures. Various studies have revealed that the Zen 5-based Ryzen 7 9700X model experienced a performance drop of up to 10 percent in Hogwarts Legacy due to the bug. Cyberpunk 2077 performance dropped by around 6 percent on the Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 7 9700X.
Performance drops varied depending on the game tested, but benchmarks also showed that there were some settings in Windows 11 that could help mitigate the bug. Enabling administrator mode in Windows 11 resulted in a 100 percent performance increase on the Ryzen 7 9700X and a 3 percent performance increase on the Ryzen 7 7700X.
The Ryzen 9000 series, introduced with the Zen 5 architecture, has received a lot of criticism since its launch. Gamers have complained that there is a lag between CPU cores on the 12-core and 16-core models, and that the performance is not as good as expected.
AMD has acknowledged the issue and said it will release a software update to fix it, but for now it looks like Ryzen users will experience performance losses in Windows 11.
