AMD is delaying the launch date of its highly anticipated Ryzen 9000 series processors. Due to a problem detected in the first batch of processors, AMD has moved the launch date to August. The company has explained the reason for this decision and the new launch dates.
Why was the Ryzen 9000 launch date delayed?
When AMD shipped the first batch of Ryzen 9000 series processors to its channel partners, they found that these processors did not meet their quality expectations. In order to provide the highest quality experience to all Ryzen users, the company has decided to recall these processors and subject them to more rigorous testing. AMD stated that the processors will be reshipped after these additional tests and scans.
When is the new launch date?
According to AMD, the Ryzen 9600X and 9700X processors will be available on August 8, while the Ryzen 9900X and 9950X processors will be available on August 15. AMD PR Manager Matthew Hurwitz declined to provide details on what the issue is, but did say that additional scanning processes are being conducted. The first batch of processors will be sent back to channel partners after being recalled and rescanned.
Ryzen 9000 series features
The Ryzen 9000 series is a direct successor to the Ryzen 7000 series and is the second generation of chips using the AM5 processor socket. It is stated that this new series can be easily integrated into existing AM5 motherboards with a BIOS update.
AMD says it’s prioritizing energy efficiency in its Ryzen 9000 chips, promising double-digit performance gains across both single-core and multi-core workloads. What do you think? Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments below.
