AMC CEO Adam Aron took to Twitter today to provide more information to the crypto community about the upcoming Shiba Inu integration. The largest movie theater chain in the United States has confirmed that they will now also accept payments with Shiba Inu, along with Bitcoin, Ethereum and a few other cryptocurrencies.
Aron stated in his tweet that AMC will partner with crypto payment processing service provider BitPay to begin accepting the Shiba Inu. This partnership will facilitate online crypto payments for movie tickets and concessions. Also, the CEO of AMC stated that the movie giant, which operates approximately 978 movie theaters worldwide, is BitPay’s first customer to accept Shiba Inu, and payment service with Shib will launch in 60 to 120 days.
attention #SHIBArmy: Our friends @Bitpay decided to support Shiba Inu specifically because I asked, so AMC can take Shiba Inu for online payments of movie tickets and concessions. @AMCTheatres to be the first @bitpay client to accept Shiba Inu. Timing 60-120 days. This is a WOW! pic.twitter.com/F54i22hHDv

Shiba Inu vs Dogecoin on AMC
Amid the DOGE and SHIB rivalry, the decision to include both coins as a form of payment might be a smart move for AMC. The chain has already announced in the past weeks that it will accept payments in Dogecoin for the purchase of gift cards of up to $200 per day. With the addition of SHIB to the crypto payment list, AMC has managed to win the eyes of both competing communities. After returning from the brink of bankruptcy earlier this year, the company decided to incorporate cryptocurrencies into its operations in September and has continued to move forward without looking back ever since. Adam Aron announced last month that AMC will accept some cryptocurrencies, including Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH), along with Bitcoin.
Cryptocurrency enthusiasts: you likely know @AMCTheatres has announced we will accept Bitcoin for online ticket and concession payments by year-end 2021. I can confirm today that when we do so, we also expect that we similarly will accept Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash. pic.twitter.com/uKcFyQotoJ

AMC’s Crypto Plans
The CEO of the AMC movie giant has never shied away from expressing his interest in exploring and incorporating decentralized products into the company’s day-to-day operations. Adam Aron even stated that the company is finally looking for ways to launch its own cryptocurrency. He also revealed that AMC is currently in talks with several major Hollywood studios to create a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) Collaboration.
“Today I can confirm that we have been researching for the past few months with third parties both how we can accept cryptocurrency and whether it is possible for AMC to consider launching our own cryptocurrency. Similarly, I can confirm to you today that we are in talks with several major Hollywood studios about the concept of joint venture commemorative NFTs for major movies shown in our theaters.”
