The series is set in two separate time periods, 1995 and 2005, in the fictional town of Kamurocho, inspired by Tokyo’s Kabukicho. Story, Kiryu and friends Nishiki, Yumi and MihoIt is shaped around the robbery plan of , which they carried out in an arcade controlled by the powerful yakuza organization Dojima Family. After spending 10 years in prison, Kiryu is released in 2005 and returns to Kamurocho, learning that his friends need help.
