Amazon as an employer

Anyone applying to the online giant has to prepare for a tough selection process.

Dusseldorf In this series, we examine well-known employer brands from the company and employee perspective. This time it’s about Amazon.

In the past, Amazon has repeatedly faced criticism of working conditions, especially in logistics. On the other hand, according to the market research company Trendence, Amazon is one of the most popular employers in Germany for academics.

At the end of the year, the American tech giant employed around 36,000 people at more than a hundred locations in Germany alone. In addition to the logistics centers, these are office locations, but also research and development centers. Last year alone, 7,000 new employees were added. Another 1,900 positions are vacant.

Depending on the position, the application process is quite demanding. We spoke to a group leader and a company spokesman, who explain how the entry into the Amazon universe works, what employees can earn at Amazon, what further development opportunities there are – and what the employee shares are all about.
