Allianz Direct: The restart of a prestige project

Munich Two years after its launch on the market, the online insurer Allianz Direct is daring a fresh start. “The restructuring phase is over, now the growth phase is starting,” announced Giulio Terzariol, CFO of Allianz, at the presentation of the quarterly figures in November. Now details are emerging as to the difficulties the start-up had to contend with in the first two years and how things should move forward from 2022.

In the Munich Dax group, Allianz Direct is still one of the most important future projects. The newly created online insurer was supposed to represent in reality what Allianz boss Oliver Bäte had proclaimed a few years ago with his motto “Simple, digital and scalable”.
