Dusseldorf Bain has been growing faster than the competition for years. In mid-February, company boss Manny Maceda managed a special coup: The management consultancy concluded a cooperation with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. With this so-called service alliance, Bain is clearly positioning itself in the growth segment of artificial intelligence ahead of the numbers one and two in the consulting scene: McKinsey and Boston Consulting.

In an interview with the Handelsblatt, Maceda explains for the first time how the deal came about and how the first customer, Coca-Cola, is using the cooperation. The potential of this new technology is “extensive,” Maceda said. It could mean “a kind of industrial revolution”.

For Maceda, who has been leading Bain since 2018 and wants to become a world leader, artificial intelligence offers great growth potential: “The interest in ChatGPT is greater than anything I’ve seen before,” says the CEO. Everyone was interested: software companies, financial service providers, consumer goods companies, healthcare institutions.
