Munich, Berlin On Friday, Daimler boss Ola Källenius finally dissolved a “shared apartment” that had existed for 125 years. The carmaker has brought its heavy truck and bus business to the stock exchange – tens of thousands of employees are moving into new quarters in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, while the Mercedes-Benz car troop remains in Stuttgart.

The declared goal of Daimler to generate more value for the shareholders with the spin-off of the truck division was “very successful,” said CEO Ola Källenius to the Handelsblatt. After the announcement of the move in February alone, the share finally shot up by ten percent. And compared to the last valuation as a conglomerate of a good 90 billion euros, Daimler and Daimler Truck combined are now “slightly above” this level.
