Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt The Steglitz roundabout rises like a gigantic skeleton in the south of Berlin. The wind whistles through the gutted skyscraper, which is scaffolded up to the 29th floor. Modern apartments are to be built in the sky above the capital, the building poster announces: “Completion is expected at the end of 2021”. André Gaufer, managing director of Profinance GmbH from Berlin, acknowledges the sign with a shrug.
The entrepreneur bought an apartment in the tower in October 2018. Central location, bicycle lift, underground parking space – this is how Gaufer wanted to invest in the 19th floor. But nothing will come of it.
In March 2020, work stopped, allegedly because of Corona, says Gaufer: “The construction site has been inactive since then.” The Adler Group, which owns the high-rise skeleton, contradicts: Work is being carried out underground in the plinth. New date for completion: 2024.
