Activist Romanova says Putin is abducting Ukrainians to Russian prison camps – Politics Abroad

As BILD early February reported, Kremlin tyrant Vladimir Putin (69) is also planning to set up prison camps for Ukrainians after an invasion of Ukraine, many people did not even believe that the bloody attack would take place at all. Unfortunately, this part of Putin’s plan for Ukraine also seems to be coming true.

Putin has Ukrainian soldiers and civilians kidnapped in prison camps in Russia!

︎ This is reported by Olga Romanowa (56), founder of the non-governmental organization “Russia behind bars”, which takes care of prisoners in Russian prisons. She has a dense network of informants from the penal institutions, including guards and prisoners.

What her sources report, she told in the Russian-language program from BILD TV: “Many prisons near the border with Ukraine are currently being emptied. The prisoners who are actually incarcerated will be transferred to the interior of the country, and Ukrainians will be housed in their place,” said Romanova.

These are not just prisoners of war under international law. “Many of them are captured soldiers of the Ukrainian army. But there are also civilians who were arrested in Ukraine and deported there. They don’t get access to a lawyer, and they don’t get charged.”

For example, the Ukrainian Roman Vujko (50): He is not a soldier but a civilian, is said to have been arrested by the Russians on March 2 in Hostomel near Kyiv and is now said to be in prison in the Russian city of Kursk.

“In this prison in Kursk alone, another 38 civilians from Ukraine should be sitting without charge,” says Romanova. Roman is seriously ill and urgently needs medication. “It is completely unclear why he is being arrested and held prisoner.” His relatives had turned to “Russia behind bars” to ask for help.

Romanova was forced to leave Russia five years ago after the authorities branded her organization a “foreign agent” under a new law and she herself was prosecuted.

The fate of many people who had to leave the port city of Mariupol via an escape corridor during the fighting also remains uncertain. “We know that many of them were taken to Russia, some are now in a transit camp near St. Petersburg,” Romanova said. “To this day we have not had any contact with these people and do not know whether they are being held there against their will.”

The human rights activist also criticizes the treatment of soldiers captured by the Ukrainian army. “According to the Geneva Conventions, which Russia has also signed, international organizations should have access to the prisoners. But that hasn’t happened yet,” she said.

In addition, according to international law, prisoners of war must be guarded by Russian soldiers. “Instead, they are guarded by ordinary Russian prison guards. And they are considered extremely brutal in Russia.”
