Wiesbaden Just a few hours after a multi-billion dollar takeover offer from financial investors, the chairman of the supervisory board of Aareal Bank, Marija Korsch, resigned from her position with immediate effect. She will also leave the committee with effect from March 31, 2022, the company announced on Tuesday evening in Wiesbaden. In the morning, Advent and Centerbridge had submitted a purchase offer, which the bank valued at more than 1.7 billion euros.
“With the successful replacement of the CEO by Jochen Klösges and the investor agreement reached today with a bidding company that is pursuing a long-term strategy for Aareal Bank, the course has been set for the future,” said the previous chairman of the supervisory board, according to the announcement.
The committee elected the head of the audit committee, Hermann Wagner, as his successor. He has been a member of the committee since 2015. In the coming months, he will concentrate on accompanying the process initiated with the announcement of a takeover offer, it said.
