A standstill coalition governs the country

Dare to make more progress, that was the big promise made by the traffic light coalition when it was launched. So far, however, the federal government has not kept this promise. Instead of modernizing the country as a progressive coalition, the traffic light is increasingly degenerating into a standstill coalition.

The SPD, the Greens and the FDP got stuck on one of their key projects to speed up planning and approvals. Even a coalition committee on Thursday evening brought no breakthrough. A snapshot, the coalition partners insist, there will soon be a compromise. Might be. However, the debate about speeding up planning is only a symptom of deeper problems.
