Munich Chip group Intel is upgrading: With two factories costing a total of 20 billion dollars, the US company wants to catch up technologically with TSMC. The Taiwanese contract manufacturer has left Intel far behind in recent years with its groundbreaking production processes.
Around 3,000 jobs are expected to be created in the US state of Ohio by 2025. This was announced by CEO Pat Gelsinger on Friday. “Today’s investment is another important step by Intel to restore America’s semiconductor manufacturing leadership,” the executive said. The modern factories are important to build a more resilient supply chain and ensure reliable access to advanced semiconductors for years to come.
