According to the data that emerged, the best-selling cars in Turkey were determined. In addition, the total sales volumes of the brands in the automotive sector, their market shares and the total sales data of passenger and light commercial vehicles compared to previous years were also announced.
Fiat Egea became the best-selling car of 2021!
According to the data shared by EBS, according to the data of the Automotive Distributors Association ODD, Fiat Egea became the best-selling car in 2021, with 49,698 units, in the period from January to the end of December. It should also be noted that the Egea Cross model sold 18 thousand 942 units. In other words, almost 70 thousand vehicles were sold in total.
Toyota Corolla with 41 thousand 343 units, Renoult Clio and Megan with 36 thousand 438 and 29 thousand 832 units follow the list. Honda Civic, which has ceased to be a domestic production since October, ranks 5th with 22 thousand 334 units.
When we look at the general automotive market, we see that a total of 734 thousand 350 vehicles were sold in the last year. It is stated that 772 thousand 788 vehicles were sold in 2020, and 479 thousand 60 vehicles were sold in 2019 just before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. In other words, contrary to expectations, we see an increase in the number of vehicle purchases during the pandemic.
The most popular name in the sector was Fiat, which reached a market volume of 16.44 percent with its sales of 121 thousand 254 units. Renault comes next with a market share of 11.02 percent with 82 thousand 280 sales data. Volkswagen is in the third place with a share of 9.25 percent, with 68,186 vehicles sold. Ford, which reached a volume of 9.12 percent by selling 67 thousand 269 units with a very small margin, is in the fourth place right after.
Looking at the results, it is observed that more vehicles were sold in December compared to this year for the last 4 years. However, when looking at the overall total, the decline of almost 50 percent in 2019 compared to 2017 has largely recovered. However, it is worth mentioning that light commercial vehicles play a greater role than passenger cars in closing the gap.
