While it is still unclear how India will regulate Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, the Prime Minister of India announced that Bitcoin has been declared the legal currency with a post on his twitter account.
While this news aroused great joy and resonance among crypto money investors, the news of BTC adoption was not what it seemed.
It was revealed that the official twitter account of Indian Prime Minister Narende Modi was hacked earlier today.
The attackers tweeted that “India has made Bitcoin a legal tender” from Prime Minister Modi’s account, which they seized.
“India has officially accepted Bitcoin as legal tender. The government has officially purchased 500 BTC and distributes them to all residents of the country. The future has come today!”
Twitter user named Priya shared that Modi’s account was hacked.

The attackers also attempted cryptocurrency scams by posting a link that prompted investors to sign up and claim BTC shares.
With the hack, Prime Minister Modi’s Twitter account was hacked for the second time and used for crypto fraud.
After the attack, false tweets were removed and the attack was confirmed by Prime Minister Modi’s official account.
After the second hack, Indian Prime Minister Modi called on his 73.4 million followers to ignore the messages shared by the attackers.
The Twitter handle of PM @narendramodi was very briefly compromised. The matter was escalated to Twitter and the account has been immediately secured.
In the brief period that the account was compromised, any Tweet shared must be ignored.
